The “Deejay Ten Florence 2013“, the non-competitive race of 5 or 10 km , that starts and finishes in the beautiful Piazza Santa Croce on the next Sunday, May 26th at 9 am. You can run with Linus, a very famous italian deejay, and the staff of the Deejay radio station. A good chance to enjoy the beauty of the view of Florence from Piazzale Michelangelo and to run in a funny atmosphere.
The next June 16th volleyball fans will get the Italy-Cuba of the World League men’s volleyball match at the Mandela Forum at 8pm. In preparation for the event will be held the first Volley Mob, a flash mob dedicated to the Italian national volleyball, and a special autograph session with the team after training on Saturday15th, as well as initiatives for young athletes of minivolley.
The football or rugby lovers could get back to basics of these sports with the “calcio storico fiorentino“, the ancient play of soccer in Florence. This Florentine tradition has developed in the ’400 and then codified under the Medici family as a game of two teams of the four historic districts of the city. The games will be on 15th-16th and the final of 24th of June 2013 in Piazza Santa Croce with the customs of the sixteenth century and with a magnificent historical procession with more than 500 participants.
Finally, the UCI World Championships from 22th of September 2013, with a lot of bycicles whisking through the streets of Tuscany. The race of Sunday September 29th will pass through the centre of Florence, in the shadow of the Dome, and will end at the Mandela Forum. The mascot of the event is a special Pinocchio cyclist, in homage to the famous fictional character created by the italian writer Carlo Collodi.
